FSSAI [Food License]
The Food Licensing and Registration System plays a pivotal role in issuing the FSSAI License, which ensures the quality and safety of food products. Only businesses with a valid food license are permitted to sell their products legally. As mandated by Section 31(1) of the FSS Act, 2006, obtaining a food license is compulsory for all food business operators in India.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) oversees the issuance of these licenses. It is essential for all entities involved in the food industry, including manufacturers, traders, and store operators, to secure their FSSAI license through an online application in India. Established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, FSSAI enforces standards for the sale, storage, and packaging of food products as per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The FSSAI license comes in two categories based on business size: FSSAI Registration and FSSAI License, with the latter being further classified into two types.
