Digital Signature Certificate
A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a secure cryptographic key provided by certifying authorities (CAs) to authenticate and verify the identity of the certificate holder. DSCs are primarily used for digitally signing documents, ensuring secure authentication of signatures, and confirming the integrity of signed documents.
In India, obtaining a DSC is a legal requirement for submitting various forms to government entities. The DSC employs public-key encryption to create a secure digital signature, which is then embedded in electronic documents, emails, and other digital communications. This process enhances security through advanced encryption technologies.
In India, the Controller of Certifying Authorities oversees the issuance of Digital Signature Certificates. The Controller of Certification Agencies (CCA) has authorized eight certification bodies to issue DSCs. Among these, EMudhra is one of the recognized certifying authorities responsible for providing Digital Signature Certificates in India.
